It’s the creepiest time of the year, my favorite month, and I’m gearing up for a busy Fall and wanted to share some events and workshops I have coming up! I am turning 38 on October 16th and will share a longer newsletter with my October reading recommendations, some creepy writing prompts, and what I’m working on right now!
In the meantime, you can look at my September Creative Obsessions post for Back to School Horror Recs. If you want some creepy stories, comics, poems, and more written by certified creepy kids, consider purchasing a copy of Face Your Fears, the anthology of student writing that my organization, Austin Bat Cave publishes every year. I have to say that this is my favorite anthology we have made so far, and by purchasing a copy, you support our ABC programs and our ability to publish more student work!

I am offering two horror writing workshops this fall, including an in-person community workshop about writing creepy folktales with Libros Bookshop in Taylor, TX on Saturday, October 12th and I am bringing back my virtual class, What Happens Inside: A Body Horror Workshop, in partnership with Gemini Ink in November. I hope you can attend!
I am also excited to read work from my next book, The Remedy is the Disease, coming out in Spring 2026 from Undertaker Books at the I Scream Social on October 18th at 7pm at Alienated Majesty Bookstore, hosted by Host Publications, a local small press that I love so much! I will be in the company of some awesome writers and friends, and I would love to see you there! If you plan on coming, please wear a mask to keep me and our community safe!
I will also be tabling and sharing a new zine I have coming out (more details next week) at the Lone Star Zine Festival on Sunday, October 20th from 12-6pm and selling the comic I wrote from Chispa Comics/Scout Comics, Cloudbreak, at MexiAmeriCon on November 2nd from 2-8pm.
Communal Care Resources
In the wake of the devastation of Hurricane Helene across several states and the anticipated damage that Hurrican Milton will have across Florida, I wanted to share a grassroots organization called New Disabled South which has been and is organizing on the ground in the South to provide aid and support to those most affected by these storms and flooding that we have seen in the last couple of weeks. Disabled and older adults in North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and other states are often unable to evacuate from these areas during climate disasters like these, so please consider supporting this organization and give to their relief fund.
